The 2022 Volvo XC90 is big on safety features and also provides a very luxurious ride. Powered by a 2.0 liter four cylinder 455hp supercharged and turbocharged engine, this SUV is roomy and richly appointed with quick acceleration. It was the perfect SUV to take on a road trip to Palm Springs.

What’s New?
2022 models offer standard built in navigation, a 360-degree camera system, lane-keeping assist, an enhanced cabin air purification system and redesigned rear bumper with hidden exhaust tips. Hybrid models now have faster acceleration thanks to a more powerful motor and larger battery. We drove 30 miles before having to switch to the gas engine.
Interior
We loved the comfy roomy interior of this SUV. The dark leather interior with wood and metal trim provided a streamline aesthetic and the four-zone automatic climate control kept us cool during the desert heat. The head-up display on the windscreen allowed us to easily follow navigation and watch our speed on the highway. Our favorite feature was the outstanding Bowers & Wilkins sound system with 19 hi-fi speakers and a sub woofer which provided surround sound throughout the cabin. We especially loved the “room” feature, letting driver and passengers choose acoustics from “studio,” “individual stage,” “concert hall” and “jazz club” rooms. There’s also heated power adjustable front seats, a surround view camera, an auto dimming rear view mirror and a 9 inch virtual touchscreen with navigation, satellite radio and a wireless charge pad. We found the touchscreen a bit hard to navigate.

Volvo is always the leader in safety features and the XC90 comes with front collision warning, automatic braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, cruise control and pedestrian detection.

Exterior
We also loved the power operated hands free liftgate and easily fit four suitcases in the trunk space. The automatic side folding mirrors helped when parking and the huge panoramic moonroof made for pretty stargazing in desert skies. The stylish gloss black trim and 20-inch wheels added to a modern sleek design housed within 85.7 cubic feet of cargo space.
I loved driving the Volvo SC90. Its traditional safety features, outrageous sound system, hybrid gas-saving feature and smooth, quiet and ultra-comfortable ride made this the perfect choice for any road trip.
